Five syndicate members fished the first week, which remained quite mild with unsettled weather and a sprinkling of snow towards the end. Mar-Peche regulars Will Brand and Stuart England went into Fallen Tree and Jetty.

Two days later Stuart landed his PB - 'Arthur', the first time over 60, at 61.12
The next day, Will had this lovely 54.3 from a bait placed in the middle of Romany Bay
And just before going home early Stuart had another one to round things off, this 41.4
The last couple of nights of the week saw the first proper frosts, but that didn't put John Hewitt off and no sooner had ne put his baits out from the house corner that he had this lovely 47.2

The fishinjg slowed down a bit the third week of November, with five anglers sharing seven fish up to mid-60. With still no frosts one would have expected a few more runs.

Goose Point was shared by John Phillipps and Paul Dringy and John was well pleased with his new PB ib the shape of this 64.6
They landed four in all, here's Paul with 'Tuppence' (everyone keeps asking what the name means - well it's the old saying for two pennies!) at 49.10
Dave Clarke in The Jetty managed this 42
whilst Jon Holmes was more then happy with this 60.2
The first week of November produced not one fish - absolutely amazing! The second week of the month saw Ian Burton's 'whole lake' booking with only six swims being fished. The weather continued the same - unsettled, with variable winds, rain on and off, but not cold.
Professional golfer and instructor, Gary Hagues had The Hobbits to himself and was well pleased with his first fish, a 64 pounder
Gary was even more delighted with his second carp. The Dark One, at it's highest ever weight of 69.8
Gary Doorman fished Goose Point and landed three, but was unlucky that two of them were under '40'. Here's Gary with his biggest at 49.12
Terry and Andrea Bowler shared the Fallen Tree swim. Terry managed this 41.12
Andrea showed Terry the way (again!) with this 44.2
this 40.0
and this whacker of 57
Party Leader, Ian landed four in Harrison's, including this fantastic common 53.11
this 57 mirror

Oct 2010 BIGGIES - Click on photos to enlarge
The last week in October saw a couple of light frosts, variable wind and some really mild days too. The arrival of the anglers coincided with the fish deciding to become pre-occupied with a massive explosion of bloodworm in two areas of the lake and nothing else could tempt them. They rolled and crashed around completely ignoring everything the lads offered them! After several days and nights of intensive feeding, their larder was at last depleted and it wasn't until early Thursday morning that the first fish fell to a boilie! Ten carp were landed in the last two days with Micky Bowman landing a couple in Goose Point,
firstly this common of 47
and then this welcomed mirror of 66
Matt Bailey had a good session landing five fish in The Jetty, including this 59.12
and this 60
Glen Harris being careful at the final stages of the fight after 4 days of waiting!
Glen Harris landed it - a 57 from left Hobbits
and Steve Wiles managed this 48 from Heron Point before departing early on the Thursday
During the third week of October the fishing continued to be reasonably good with 17 fish landed. Although there was several smaller fish banked the average weight was still over 50lbs! The weather was changeable and we had the first frosts of the year at the end of the week. Both Thursday and Friday nights were clear, sub-zero and a full moon lit the lake as if it were day.
Dave Cunningham stayed in right Hobbits for his second week and landed another four fish, including this common of 43.13
this 59.10
and a lovely 61.8
and as it was a PB, water was the order of the day!
Shaun Maher arrived on the back of a good catch from The Labyrinth, with fish up to over 50, so the pressure was on Shaun straight away. He went into The Nook and had a catch he'll never forget.
He started with this common of 43.8
and continued with a 46.5
a 53.12
a 56.5
and a fantastic PB of 74.2. Well done Shaun.
Left hobbits produced this 40lb mirror for Mark Smith
and the Dark One at it's best-ever weight of 66 pounds
Last but not least to get on the scrore sheet was Ray Emerson. He'd blanked on his previous couple of visits so KM insisted that he arrived with no rigs or baits! The plan was for Kevin to tie his rigs and supply the bait (Golden Balls).
It worked well and within two hours Ray landed this PB of 55.5 on Saturday afternoon!
His next was this mirror of 50.5
then a fabulous common of 53.9
He finished off with two smaller fish, including this 46.9
Ray had a smile on his face all the way home!
The lake record of 76.4 only lasted one week when along came Mike Hayes landing Barbie-Jo at 77.8 from Goose Point .
here is Mike with the fantastic fish, soon to be an '80'
A '30' proceeded this 46.14, The Old Warrior, for Dave Cunningham
John coe had this 54.4 from Harrison's
The Jetty produced nothing for Robert Burgess, so he moved into The Nook and landed this lovely 55.2
Jason Andrews hooked 12 carp in Heron Point, but only landed seven of them! However, most people would be pleased with a couple of 50's and a mid-60 and here's the best of his super catch

The first week in October was very warm for the time of year. Eight anglers had 11 fish between them, including Rambo at a lake record of 76.4. All the fish landed were in tip-top condition and fighting hard. Most are now piling on the pounds and this week the average weight was above 56lbs.
Here is John Wrench with the magnificent Rambo at 76.4

The last few days of September saw 18 fish out. Fiv e of these came out of The Jetty to Paul Henson and Nick Upton, who both had 60's!
Here's Paul's three; a 51.0 common
a 57.8
and this 61.8
Nick had this common of 43
then this fantastic 'Big Scale' at 65lbs.
Two 60-plus commons were the highlight of a fairly slow third week of September, but Matthew Hope saved the session with a good catch from Fallen Tree.
Here he is with a 58.8 mirror
a 43 common
a 47 mirror
a 48.8 mirror
and a 55.8. Well done Matthew
Another good result from Mar-Peche the second week of September. 20 fish were landed and 3 were lost. Two 70's, one 60 and 11 x 50's - where else but Mar-Peche? Where size matters!
Alfredus Macenka fished Heon Point and had a 51.14m
Peter Lane fished on Goose and had 3 fish, including this 53.1
and this 57m
Rob Julyan had first choice and took right-hand Hobbits. He started with a PB of 59.0m
He followed this with the 'dark one' at 62.8
and finally caught a 55.0m
Ian Peakes had a slow start to the week in Harrison's then banked 3 fish, this 43.8c
a 52.8m
and finally this 58m
Jo Hill fished The Nook and banked this 42.6m
a 42.8m
and this 53.13m
Mick Murray and Graham Moore fished Fallen Tree and had a fish each. Here is Graham with his 57m
Dan Phipps arrived last and fish Squirrels Drey and caught a 40m and lost one
Finally Perry Irving fished left-hand Hobbits. He started by losing two fish, but soon made up for it with a 53.12m.
Followed by Barbie-Jo on Friday morning at 73.8.
Whilst packing-up on Saturday morning Perry landed Rambo at 75.8, a new lake record. Well done Perry!
It was great to see one of our most memorable customers return to the lake recently. Graham Wall fished Mar-Peche as much as anyone for 4 or 5 years before getting his own lake in the Champagne region, Etang Deux Pierres (etangdeuxpierres.co.uk). He was top rod during all that time, catching well over 100 carp. How would he fare on his long-awaited return we all thought? Well he didn't do bad - see what you think...
First full night in left-hand Hobbits and Graham broke his PB with 'The Dark One' at 63.12
He then saw fish jumping in front of Harrison's and moved there to immediately catch this huge common, from the marginal shelf, weighing 62.4!
He then had this 42.4
and a nice 53.1 to round things off. Well Done Graham.
Barry Wright fished The Nook and did well, firstly with this mirror of 45
then this 40.4
and this 51.8
Graham's son, Daniel, on his first-ever visit, fished right-hand Hobbits and landed five 50's! He immediately started off with the capture of this lovely 51.8
Four more 50's followed in the shape of this 54.8
this 59.1
this 50.14 common
and this 55

Will Brand's group arrived at the end of August and followed the McFetrich/Baker crew in. This is not always an easy task, as Dennis & John hook so many fish that it's hard to equal their success. However, Will's group did extremely well and despite two of them going on Labyrinth's river stretch for the week, the remaining lads landed nearly 30 fish! The Hobbits is fishing better again now, with John Baker hooking 20 carp in there the previous week, Shane Salmon enjoyed a great session, with each fish averaging over 50 pounds! Here are some of his catch.

The fishing picked up during the third week in August with at least a dozen carp landed.
Kevin Taylor was on his first-ever trip to Mar-Peche and smashed his personal best by a whopping 31 pounds with the capture of the much-sought after Barbie-Jo at 71.8
Here's the other side of the leviathan
Kevin had two other carp from Heron Point, including this 49.14
The fishing continued to be a bit slow during the second week for the six anglers present. Party leader Paul Fowler had an upper 30 mirror from the bay in Fallen Tree, but was more successful with his cat rod, landing four up to 170 lbs.
Richard Tring smashed his PB with this lovely 52 known as 'Jo-Junior'
A carp specialist for more than 50 years, Bruce Ashby, famous for his high quality, hand-made rods, landed three carp in The Hobbits, including this nice 44.12
and this 47
A cat of over 100 preceeded this fabulous 59 on Goose Point for Bob Nicholls
The Hobbits has fished very poorly this year, due to the fish choosing new areas to feed, so it was pleasing to see Neville Blackman land this 49
Here is a 57 mirror for Tom Potter on Heron Point
Top Italian angler, Luisella Crivaro, enjoyed her dip with this 43 mirror
Pat Corbett had The Jetty reserved and started off with a tiddler of 28, but then followed it up with a fish-of-a-lifetime in the shape of Rambo at 72lb !

The last week of July saw changeable weather, with high water temperatures and the fish in a reluctant mood. Five fish were lost, with good old flourocarbon resulting in the majority of the losses, at Mar-Peche as usual!
Michael Wood landed this lovely 42 common from The Jetty
Brian Hill, already a 'member' of the MP 70's Club, proved what a good swim The Cove can be if fished correctly by firstly landing this 47.4
and then this fantastic 61.4
The fishing was really slow the third week of July with several fish being lost. The only two landed was this 51.2 to Mark Rowell
and Ian Nicholls 42.12
Very hot weather made the fishing tough-going at the start of July. Ian Lichfield landed this 49.8 from The Jetty.
After a 90 plus cat he then moved to the Fallen Tree and netted this common of 40.8
Ian's friend, Steve, struggled in Fallen Tree so moved to Harrison's and banked this 49.8.
John Hewitt had most action in Heron Point. His girlfriend, Helen used only one rod and was unlucky to get one around 30, but here she is playing it.
John first had a 61.12
and then this 47.4
At the end of his session, John spotted lots of fish moving into the house corner, put a rod out for a couple of hours and landed this 40.4.

Party leader, Chris 'Shaky' Wade, ended up in the Fallen Tree swim. He started off trying for cats on one rod with meat, but when this 160lb monster took his boilie he decided to stop trying so hard!
Shaky also had cats of 76 and 50 before catching the same carp twice!
It turned out to be the Old Warrior at 43.4 and 44.4!
Daniel Gibbs had a couple of biggies on Heron Point; firstly this 52.14
and a Saturday morning fish of 61.0

More than 25 carp were landed by seven anglers during the first week of May, with an amazing average weight of around 50 pounds. Paul Newman could only fish five days and when he hadn't caught anything by the end of his second day things weren't looking good. All the baits he'd tried had failed so he thought, but after seeing his mates in Hobbits catching on the MP Golden Balls he decided to give it a try as a last resort. It was then 'fireworks' for Paul as he got run after run on the GB's! He then landed nine carp up to 61 pounds in his last couple of days.
Here's some of them, firsly a 43.8

More than twice as many carp were landed the following week as they seemed to finally wake-up with more than 500 showings through the week! Every swim that was fished produced carp -
Chris Perkins landed this beautiful deep-bodied common of 51.2
Phil Fowler had four from lef-hand Hobbits, including this 45.7
this 50.2 mirror
and this 57
The Jetty produced three for Paul Jakeman, a 40 pound mirror
and this 47
The Nook continued its tendancy to produce 'whackers' - this time for John Liddel in the shape of this 53.8
and 'The Dark One' at 63
Kevin Cornelius landed a beautiful 36 before he had this common of just over 40
And as usual, Saturday morning saved the session for Stuart England, who'd only had one double, with this fantastic 51.8 common
Nine carp were landed during the third week of the month with water temperatures still well below normal. Unluckily, five of the fish were 30's! Terry Manders packed all his tackle down on the Saturday morning and left four rods laying on the ground. He then reeled them in one by one and 'Yes' you've guessed it - the last one on the ground came 'alive' and Terry promptly landed a '50' so that he could go home with a smile on his face!
Terry with his 'last minute' 50!
The second week of April saw the fishing pick up, at last! 12 carp were landed with Mark Shirley being first to sample the action with
a 55
and a 49.4
Lee Salt's rods in Harrison's were quiet all week except for a short burst of action producing three fish.
Here's Lee with a stunning common of 41
Jason Salt also had three in the Fallen Tree swim. Unluckily, two were 30's but here he is with a 55.12
This 48.10 was landed in The Jetty by Steve Briggs
Andrea's group finished with 7 carp and one lost, which was good considering the very low water temperatures.
Frank Coumo lost one shortly after arriving, but followed it up with this 43
Heron Point produced two fish for Gary Hagues, firstly a common just under 40 and then this 42.6
Dave Bryant managed this 56.2 from The Jetty
Chris 'Grizz' Adams comes ashore with a fish from The Hobbits
It turned out to be a really smart looking 44

and her second fish at 51. Well done Andrea!

Nothing was caught in January mainly due to very cold weather. The lake was frozen for nearly three weeks and when two anglers did arrive they lost confidence and left after only two days! February was slightly milder, but still not much fishing was done until the last week or so.
Graham May moved into The Cove for his last night and next morning was rewarded with this 55-pound mirror
We have been advising winter anglers to take a pike rod or two and Graham's mate, Adam did just that and had this 28-pounder
