'MAR-PECHE'

(THIS LIST DOES NOT INCLUDE FISH UNDER 40LBS)

Oh dear!! What is happening with our customers this year? It is with regret that we have already had to ban 15 anglers from ever visiting our lakes again. This is more than in the last 5 years put together! The most common reason is for entering the fisheries early, before the designated time of 12 noon. This is our number one rule and is stated clearly on all our Booking Forms, in our Anglers Guide booklet, on our Rules and on our website etc. So please, if anyone reading this has a booking with us,

DO NOT ENTER THE FISHERY BEFORE 12 NOON

The first week in May was another hot and sunny week. The fish continue to feed well and 18 fish were landed by 9 anglers.
Shaun Maher started off the action by landing a 64.7lb from the Nook, just 90 minutes after casting out on Saturday afternoon.
Jonathan Hill fished Right Hobbits and landed 4 fish. This 40.13m,
followed by this 45.7c on Tuesday and the same fish again on Thursday at 44.11.
Jamie French fished Left Hobbits and beat his PB with this 55.5m.
followed by catching his PB common at 52.14.
He finished his week with a Friday night fish of 57.11m
Martin Blatherwicke with a lovely 40.02
Regular visitors to Mar-Peche, Graham Moore and Mick Murray decided to double up in Harrison's. Mick started off with catching this 43.0c and a smaller fish.
Thursday lunchtime Graham hooked into a fish. After an epic battle and taking out 3 other rods he finally landed The Animal at 66.0lbs.
Once photos were done and the other rods untangled, Mick cast out a rod he had ready. Not 2 minutes later it rattled off and he was in. About 20 minutes later he slipped the net under Big Scale at its top weight of 69.0lbs. Well done to them both. A Mar-Peche PB for both of them within half an hour.

The last week in April was warm and sunny on the whole. The fish continue to feed well and are now beginning to get back to their top weights. A very successful week for the 6 anglers this week with 34 fish being landed.
Mark Austin fished Fallen Tree and had a 52.9m
a 60.3m
45.8m
54.12
Mick Lomas started out on The Jetty and had 55.8m
and a 47.0m
He then moved to Harrison's for the last 2 evenings and after having 2 smaller fish he caught a 40.1m on Saturday morning.
Peter Roper fished Heron Point, he had two catfish, a 53.2m
and a 45.8m
Lee Gray fished left Hobbits next to his dad Steve. Lee started off gently with a couple of 30's before getting amongst the bigger fish.
He caught a 43.6m,
50.10m
and Black Spot the common at her top weight 64.8lb. Steve waited until Friday night to catch and sadly it was only a small one.
Finally, Jay Andrews fished Goose Point and had the session of a lifetime, landing 15 fish and loosing 3.
He started off with a 56.8m, whilst playing it his second rod went off and was struck by one of his friends.
He quickly photographed the fish and took over and landed Rambo at 75lb. Well Done Jay!
The third week of April didn't produce as many fish as expected; 11 in all, but it did include a 70 and two 60's! Daryl Cruttenden hadn't fished the lake before, but wisely booked Woodpecker Lodge, which guaranteed him one of the best swims, the Fallen Tree. He casually arrived mid-afternoon on the Saturday, picked up his Golden Balls order and soon had Barbie-Jo at 77.4 in the net!
Unfortunately, we cannot show a picture of the fish with its tail showing, as it was badly smashed during handling (not the captor's fault) and this once fabulous fish will NOT now exceed 80lbs as expected this year. It will spend the next couple of years trying to repair the horrendous damage caused by bad handling.
Here's a picture of Barbie-Jo's damaged tail - caused by lifting it out of the water with its head pointing upwards and all the weight directed onto the tail.
Top Rod for the week was Geoff Price on Heron Point who started off smartly with this 64.8 - another big fish to Golden Balls!
then this 46
and another 60!

The Hobbits was fairly slow, but Nathan Price managed this 44

and Jamie Syks got two from the left side, including this 48
Harrison's produced two 52's for Matthew Price, here's one, a lovely deep-bodied common of 52.0
As expected, the second week of April saw the fishing improve with 14 carp landed. Included was one of the most unluckiest catches ever at Mar-Peche; everybody comes to the water hoping to catch a 50 or a 60 and they know that if they can catch 3 or 4 they will catch a big one. Well just imagine catching five carp from Harrison's and the biggest is 37 !!! That's what happened to party leader, Mark Shirley! The party was made up of five Engllish and Four Dutch and they were a little more lucky size-wise.
Lee Salt only managed one from right Hobbits in the shape of this huge 60.2 mirror
This magnificent 54.12 common was netter on Goose Point by Richard Storm
he then added this 48 mirror
Heron Point first produced this 41.8 for Gobin Raghunath
and then this beautiful, very long 52 common
Malcolm Nelson banked a 43.4 on The Jetty
Larger-than-life funny man, Michael Smith kept us amused all week and landed a couple of fish too, including this 48.8
and a lovely Saturday morning fish of 55
Ten carp and one catfish were landed during the first week of April, which was very warm and sunny.
Stephen West picked R/H Hobbits and first had this deep-bodied common of 40.0
and then smashed his personal best with this fat 60 pounder which was the lake's 20th different 60.
Mike Perin landed two on Heron Point, including this 58.8.
Top rods for the week were our lovely Italian couple Luisella Crivaro and Mauro Mittino with 6 carp and a cat; here's a selection of pictures featuring their catch.

Rob Morris had booked the whole lake for a party of eight anglers and five carp in total were landed this with a further two lost from Goose Point and Jetty, both from hook-pulls. The group spotted around 40 to 50 fish showing throughout Sunday.
First to land a fish was John Abbott, with this lovely 46.8 common from Harrisons
Within the hour Dave Guy had this lovely 60.6 mirror from The Jetty
There were still plenty of fish showing, around 30 to 40, which gave the lads plenty of encouragment
Early Tuesday morning Roy Bailey landed this 51.4 mirror from Goose Point
Mid-week rain started to slow things down a bit, but this didn't stop Rob Morris who's persistence paid-off. He started in the Cove and on Tuesday moved to R/H Hobbits, then on Wednesday he moved again to The Nook, where he landed this lovely 43 mirror.

A flurry of fish ended a fairly baron winter period with seven carp landed in the last few days. Charlie Ratchford had a great session in Heron Point - a swim he now knows very well.
He started with 'Jo-Junior' at 58.8.
He then had this 41.4 common the next day.
Pulling out all the stops, Charlie then landed this fabulous 62.4
and rounded off a great session with this 31 pounder.
Dave Graves joined the syndicate solely to fish the last week (he's been serving his country in Afganistan) and what a great first visit to Mar-Peche it turned out to be.
He chose Goose Point and soon landed this mirror of 57.
A truly magnificent common of 56 pounds rounded off his memourable first trip. (Well done Rambo!)
And last, but not least, Brian 'Grufter' Foreshaw had this nice 44 mirror from Harrison's.
