The
Bay Swim offers hoards of margin fishing, gin clear water and quite
weedy. A careful wading session along the margins reveals lots of
small spots cleared of weed and polished clean by feeding fish.
Two or three spots can easily be 'earmarked' alongside marginal
features for casting, or hook baits can be carefully dropped into
position whilst wading - a method I prefer. This swim was the only
pitch giving complete access to the 'entrance bay' until 1999 when
we decided to construct a further two swims giving anglers further
options to outwit the carp!
The
new swims were named The Acers and
The Jetty and an unwritten rule,
agreed between the syndicate, ensures that priority is always given
to whoever is first resident in one of these positions.
The bay is not an easy place to outwit the carp but persistence
in getting to know the area has paid off for some anglers. Alan
Edge and Dave Baldry have enjoyed considerable success here.
