A
short walk through the trees from The Jetty
brings you to The Copse - a lovely swim privately enclosed by 40'
trees with two small pathways coming in from each side.
These
are the tallest trees on this relatively young fishery, having only
been completed less than 30
years ago. Gravel pits are said to be at their richest in their
first 50 years and this is certainly one of the main reasons for
the fantastic growth rates experienced at Ringstead.
Out
towards the middle from The Copse you will find about 10' of water
and like most of the lake, the bottom is clean and firm but unfortunately
featureless. Or is it?
An
area out in the middle, accessible from four swims, is known as
the 'boxing ring' and over the years this has produced its fair
share of fish.
There
is also good areas a short way out and slightly to the right. Careful
application of Round-up has created a clearing through the reeds
allowing you to fish the bay to the right. All in all a good swim
and one that produces a fair amount of fish.
The
Copse also enjoys the benefits of a lovely log cabin, which features
a fridge, microwave, worktop, with charging points and a water tap.
